The Black and Decker FSM1600 Steam Mop is one of the best steam mops on the market. One of the reasons I love this mop so much is that it has a huge tank that allows for between 22-40 minutes of mopping. If you have a lot of floors to mop, or like to be thorough to get an extra-sparkling shine, then this is the mop for you.
Another reason this Black and Decker steam mop is one of my favourites is that it is so easy to use. You simply fill the tank, click the power switch, and in 10 seconds the water is hot enough to start steaming floors. If you want to switch surfaces from hard wood to vinyl to carpets all you need to do is turn the dial to the correct setting.

- Advanced cleaning power. After using the FSM1600 you’ll never want to use an ordinary mop again! It kills 99.99% of germs without the need for bleach or floor cleaners and the steam clean means that the floor dries in a matter of seconds. No more stepping over the floor on tip toes! It also comes with a built-in water filter to make sure the mop is as clean as possible to give you dazzling floors and carpets.
- Full swiveling head. Con’s of the FSM1600:
- Quite heavy. Some people find that the Black and Decker steam mop is a little heavy and they struggle to move it around as quickly as other models. It may be partly due to the bigger tank that gives you a longer clean, but at 2.5kg I didn’t find it so heavy that I couldn’t control it. For me, the weight wasn’t an issue and I am a 9 stone woman in her late 50′s!
The Black and Decker FSM1600 Steam Mop is the perfect choice if you have a lot of floors to clean, but its excellent build quality and value for money make it a good choice for smaller cleaning jobs too. I would strongly recommend this steam mop as it is the best one I’ve tested so far.
